To Do – Before 21

Hey everyone! This post was meant to be a cringy “how we spent Valentine’s post” but the truth is that our Valentine’s Day wasn’t any different to any normal day we spend together, and so I thought I’d write about something a little bit different, and tell you guys everything I want to do before my 21st Birthday in July.

1. Finish my Dissertation – this kind of goes without saying, as my dissertation is due to be submitted by April 30th. However, my dissertation feels like a noose that’s been around my neck ever since I started university 3 years ago, and so I can’t wait to finally have this weight lifted before my 21st birthday.

2. Graduate University – closely linked with finishing my dissertation, I also hope to graduate university before my 21st. At current, I haven’t failed any of my assignments and so this is achievable as long as I stay on track. Assuming everything works out well, something I’m praying for considering I’m working my arse off this year, I’m due to graduate sometime between July 14th and 21st which will be just in time for my Birthday on the 25th.

3. Find a job – there’s a lot of pressure on you after you finish university to find your “dream” job, but I’m not going to allow myself to succumb to that. Honestly, I feel burnt out and exhausted after the past 3 years, and so the thought of diving into a 9-5 job in a specific career area that I’m not even certain I want to work in sounds awful. My plan after university is to just find a job, even if it’s just something part-time so that I can put money into my savings ready to apply for a mortgage and to try out a few different things until I decide what kind of area of work I want to work in.

4. Celebrate our Anniversary – on April 12th, it will be our one year anniversary and I’m very excited to celebrate it. I’m not quite sure what we’ve got planned yet, but it does fall on Easter Sunday, and so I’m hoping it’s going to involve me eating lots and lots of chocolate lol.

5. Take my car for its MOT – this sounds like a stupid one, but the MOT is up on my car in June and so it is something that I’m going to have to do before my 21st Birthday, fingers crossed it’ll pass and I won’t have to spend out a fortune again lol.

6. Accept the change – although it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, leaving university will mean me leaving the education system which is going to be a massive change in my life. Even though I’m excited about this change and eager to get out of education, I am aware that it’s going to be difficult to adjust to, and so I’m setting myself the goal of accepting the change in my lifestyle before my birthday in July.

7. Take a break – this is what I’m most excited for. I’ve mentioned before that I’ve already got some holidays booked this year, and I can’t wait to get away with Dean and just relax. Our first mini-break is in April, which works out perfect as it will give me time to relax and refresh between submitting my dissertation and final assignments and going back to do my final exam. Then after I’ve finished university we go away to Albania for 9 days in June, which is the perfect time to celebrate (hopefully lol) and relax before graduation in July (something I will definitely be stressing about). Then after graduation, we head off to London at the end of July to celebrate my 21st Birthday, so the timings really have worked out perfectly.

So yes, that’s my to-do list before my 21st Birthday. When are your birthdays? Have you got things you want to achieve before you turn one year older? Let me know in the comments.
